Throwing Children to the Wolves: How Hate Campaigns Against Children are now in Vogue
27 Jan 2019

A recent confrontation between Covington Catholics High School boys and American Indians raises important issues about prejudice, racism, political correctness and child abuse. The reaction to this confrontation shows the ruthlessness of political expediency.

THE FOLLOWING PICTURE, taken on Friday 18th January from a video shot at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, has become a symbol of racist America. Here you see a confrontation between a white Catholic schoolboy, 16-year-old Nick Sandmann's, and an American Indian elder and Vietnam veteran, 65-year-old Nathan Phillips.

Confrontation at Lincoln Memorial

The story that the mainstream media and progressive Left ran with was Nathan Phillips’ own account: a group of MAGA-hat-wearing racist and feral 16-year-old youths surrounded, mocked and intimidated Phillips, blocking his path and smirking disrespectfully in his face. When video evidence showed that Phillips was actually the one that went up to the boys, he amended his story claiming that he had merely intervened to heroically put himself between the “beastly” schoolboys and the poor “old black individuals” who were their “prey”, worried that the boys might murder one of them.

He stated that the Catholic boys surrounded him and that, “I heard them [schoolboys] saying, build that wall, build that wall!” He went on to say, “I wish I could see that young man put that energy into making this country really, really great.” Phillips added said, “I’m a Marine Corps veteran and I know what that mob mentality can be like… the looks in these young men’s faces…” What a superlative act of bravery protecting those vulnerable black men, to intervene putting your own safety on the line for their safety!

Of course, the social media and mainsteam media backlash towards the schoolboys, and Sandmann in particular, was savage. The SJW mob demanded Sandmann be doxed, after which he, his family and his fellow students received a countless avalanche of threats (including death threats and even prices on their heads). Mainstream journalists and politicians jumped into the fray and branded Sandmann a vile racist. (And in the process of doxing Sandmann, the lynch mob wrongly targeted Michael Hodge at first due to his resemblance to Sandmann, spewing bile his way before realising their mistake.)

Here are just a few of the reactions from more high-profile (many of which have since been deleted):

Kentucky Secretary of State, Alison Grimes: “In spite of these horrific scenes, I refuse to shame and solely blame these children for this type of behavior. Instead, I turn to the adults and administration that are charged with teaching them, and to those who are silently letting others promote this behavior. This is not the Kentucky we know and love. I call on Covington Catholic High School to denounce this behavior. As a proud Alumnae of a Catholic High School, I hope a school that stands for ‘Building Minds, Living Faith’ would not stand for this.“

Diocese of Covington and Covington Catholic High School [where the boys were from]: “We condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic High School students towards Nathan Phillips specifically, and Native Americans in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C. We extend our deepest apologies to Mr. Phillips. This behavior is opposed to the Church’s teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person. The matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including expulsion. We know this incident also has tainted the entire witness of the March for Life and express our most sincere apologies to all those who attended the March and all those who support the pro-life movement.”

Nicholas Frankovich, deputy managing editor of National Review, wrote in an article entitled The Covington Students Might as Well Have Just Spit on the Cross: “It appears that most of the teenagers in this video are from a Catholic high school near Covington, Kentucky, across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. They mock a serious, frail-looking older man and gloat in their momentary role as Roman soldiers to his Christ. ‘Bullying’ is a worn-out word and doesn’t convey the full extent of the evil on display here… Decide for yourself who is more pleasing to Christ, Phillips or his mockers. As for the putatively Catholic students from Covington, they might as well have just spit on the cross and got it over with.”

Howard Dean, former head of the DNC: “Covington Catholic High School seems like a hate factory to me. Why not just close it?”

Christopher Mathias, reporter at Huffington Post: portrays Sandmann as a segregationist by putting up a photo of his face beside a photo of a segregationist demonstration.

Uncle Shoes, owner of Street Corner Music: “LOCK THE KIDS IN THE SCHOOL AND BURN THAT BITCH TO THE GROUND.”

Anne Helen Petersen, Buzzfeed reporter: “One them of the conversations over the past 24 hours = how deeply familiar this look is. It’s the look of white patriarchy, of course, but that familiarity — that banality — is part of what prompts the visceral reaction. This isn’t spectacular. It’s life in America.”

Tina Jordan at the New York Times called novelist Marlon James’ tweet “the single best commentary I’ve read on the #CovingtonCatholic boys”. Here is James’ post: “Here’s the thing about Covington Catholic School Boy. He didn’t shout, he didn’t rage, he didn’t threaten, and he did not even lift a finger. Because he’s not even twenty years old, and already knows he never has to. He just stood there with his smirk, the line sealing his white privilege. A smirk saying nothing you speak matters, your existence doesn’t matter, not even the fact that you were here first matters. You’re a joke because I find you funny, you’re a target because I have got my bullseye on you, and you are nothing because I won’t even remember you by the time I get home. This is racism boiled down to the core, bigotry in excelsis.”

woodchipper tweet

Jack Morrissey, film producer at Disney, posted a picture of blood coming out of a woodchipper with the caption: “MAGAkids go screaming, hats first, into the woodchipper.”

Ron Perlman, Sons of Anarchy star: “To the little bitch in this soul crushing image, your punishment will be an entire lifetime of regret…”

Rosie O’Donnel: Posted side by side picture of Sandmann and Kavanaugh with similar expressions.

Ed Asner, actor: “This is a disgrace. This is not America.”

New York Times: “Boys in ‘Make America Great Again’ Hats Mob Native Elder at Indigenous Peoples March”

Kathy Griffin, the “comedian” known for her image of a decapitated Trump head: “Name these kids. I want NAMES. Shame them. If you think these fuckers wouldn’t dox you in a heartbeat, think again.” She went on to tweet: “Names please. And stories from people who can identify them and vouch for their identity. Thank you.”

Tim Wise (an oxymoron if there ever was one), “educator”: “The cocky shitkicker should be expelled till he shows true contrition, as should all who egged him on. White arrogance & entitlement at its best… entitlement to be heard, harass & demean… He’s now entitled to removal from this ‘religious’ school…”

Reza Aslan, author and academic: “Honest question. Have you ever seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?”

Bakari Sellers, politician and CNN pundit: “He is a deplorable. Some ppl can also be punched in the face.”

Calvin Stowell, activist: “when you have a bunch of white kids screaming ‘build the wall’ at indigenous folds it’s very apparent that ‘the wall’ is nothing to do with border security, it is simply a monument to white supremacy.”

Kelly Hayes, journalist at Truthout: “The MAGA Boys Are Racist Brats… The MAGA brand is now and has always been about racism.”

Jim Carrey, actor: draws racist picture of snake-eyed evil looking students, one with “Hate Again” on his MAGA hat and the caption “Baby snakes.”

William LeGate, programmer and activist: “It is that day. Sorry, you will have to go & defend these kids now. I did shit way less dumb than these kids when I was 16 & got obliterated for it. They deserve everything they’re getting & more.”

John Fugelsang, TV host: “The Covington Catholic kids are a model for modern US Christian Fundamentalism, which is: All it takes to be good Trump Christian is opposing abortion, which Christ never mentioned; so go ahead & crap on marginalized groups, reject empathy & wear blackface at basketball games.”

Micheal Green, writer: “A face like that never changes. This image will define his life. No one need ever forgive him.”

Micheal Ian Black, “comedian”: Posted pic of Sandmann along side pics of white racists in earlier times.

Chris Evans, actor: “This is appalling. The ignorance. The gall. The disrespect. It’s shameful. And sadly on brand. When something like this isnt even surprising, it’s evidence to our place in the cycle of recreating our darker chapters. That Native American man showed incredible strength and dignity.”

Debra Messing, actor: “Mocking, condescending, disrespecting, ASSHOLE. #CovingtonShame”

Keith Boykin, writer and broadcaster: “The MAGA-hat wearing Covington Catholic Hight School students mocking Elder Nathan Phillips at the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington are direct descendants of the white privilege that empowered white kids to mock Elizabeth Eckford at Littld Rock High School in 1957.”

Brandon Friedman, activist and columnist: “1. ‘Because he’s a kid’ is no reason to withhold hi identity. If you want to say, ‘because his behavior doesn’t warrant ruining his life,’ then we can have that debate. But his age along should not protect him from consequences. I’ll show you why in the next tweet.”

Kara Swisher, journalist, : “And to all you aggrieved folks who thought this Gillette ad was too much bad-men-shaming, after we just saw it come to life with those awful kids and their fetid smirking harassing that elderly man on the Mall: Go fuck yourselves.”

Jeffrey Wright, actor: “Since they’re in DC, they should take the phucking red hats and #MAGA bullshit and get up in some faces over Congress Heights way. The reaction won’t be so dignified. They’ll relocate that smug grin to the back of his pencil-dick neck like he’s asking for.”

Eric Balfour, actor and singer: “This video breaks my heart. There is nothing more sad and despicable than seeing #MAGA Youth disrespect our Native family but also the blind ignorance of this corrupted kid. Someone taught him to hate. @realDonaldTrump and his red hat brigade are the new KKK.”

We must not forget here, that even if Chris Sandmann was taunting Phillips, the above posts, which are only a tiny representation of the massive knee-jerk reaction, are inciting hatred and violence against minors. Yes, children. These posts are clearly (even if now deleted) endangering Sandmann’s life, that of his family and the lives of all other pupils at Covington Catholic High School. And they place a stigma on Sandmann for the rest of his life as the face of white privilege and racism.

Some will certainly be thinking: “So what, they deserve everything they get!” Except… it was all based on lies.

Here is a full recording of the event so everyone can see what exactly happened, putting everything in context. This video was available for all to see, but most of the reactionaries did not bother to look for it because they were so sure of their interpretation:

If you watch this, you will see that Nathan Phillips is the liar, and it was he who was the provocateur, walking up to Sandmann within a foot or so of his face and banging his drum. Sandmann smirks only for moments and most likely because he is embarrassed not knowing what to do with all eyes and cameras on him and an adult trying to intimidate him. (Phillips showed great disrespect to another human being, and a minor to boot!)

It also turns out that Nathan Phillips is not a Vietnam veteran or war hero as portrayed in the mainstream media: his role in the US Marines was as a reserve who was a basic electrician, and he never even left US shores so he has never seen active duty and has never defended his country. His record also shows that he went AWOL several times before being discharged as a private. Everything said about him is lies and exaggeration, and Phillips played along with these because it furthered his political aims.

Phillips also lied about the students chanting “Build the wall” as you don’t hear that phrase spoken or chanted even once throughout the whole 1-hour 47-minutes full video.

When you watch the full video and actually bother to look at the evidence you see that:

  1. The real racists and instigators of violence at that event were the 4 black “African Hebrew Israelites” who very aggressively taunted the children with racist, homophobic and other abhorrent slurs. This is the true hate crime of that day, but nobody did anything to stop them and nobody in the mainstream media seems outraged by them. These racists are even filmed telling the American Indian group that they lost their country because their deified buffalo and eagles rather than the one true God, and calling them ‘Uncle Tomahawks’. They basically insulted everyone that day and persistently tried to spark off violence to further their political aims.
  2. The American Indian group there were hurling racist insults at the school boys as well, such as “Go back to Europe!”. Again, these were adults abusing and taunting children.
  3. Nathan Phillips, probably too much of a coward to confront aggressive black men, aims for easier prey in the soft target of a crowd of 16-year-old boys with MAGA hats. So he marches into the centre of the group of school children, picks out one of them and walks up to his face to intimidate him with a drum, no doubt hoping to draw a response to further his political agendas. The schoolboy smiles at him at times, probably uncertain what to do with an adult intimidating him in front of his friends, and in that moment he gave those with political agendas the photographic “evidence” they were looking for to bolster their false narrative. It was a political ambush by the adults on children.
  4. The media and SJWs jump on the narrative of Sandmann taunting a frail peace-loving war-hero American Indian because it fits with their anti-white political agenda. The Left were spitting blood as evidenced by the tweet posts above.
  5. After a couple of days, the reactionaries start to realise that they have made a rash judgement as the evidence they never bothered to look at percolates through social media sites making them look predatory themselves. Concerned probably about the legal consequences of their libel, they start back-peddling and deleting posts (most too proud to openly apologise for endangering children).
  6. Sandmann’s family have now contacted L. Lin Wood, a high profile specialist in libel and slander, as all the hatemongers start to scuttle for cover, with a few unapologetically doubling down and driving the knife further, believing the best course of defence is more attack. (Kelly Hayes at Truthout, for example, attributed the change of perception, not to the clear video evidence of the day’s proceedings, but because “White people who harm Native people are often absolved by way of recontextualization.” Clearly truth really is out from Hayes’ point of view!)
  7. Nathan Phillips description of the four black men as victims and “old” is contemptible when you watch what actually happened. This just shows Phillips for the troublemaker that he is, pure and simple, although he would never be charged with inciting public disorder and racial hatred because he is an American Indian.

Here are a couple of the most rational videos that I can find that address this charade:

I want to look at the bigger picture here as I think there are lessons to be learnt from the above.

Firstly, people will always be led by their prejudices and jump to conclusions, especially if they perceive political advantage. But if those actions endanger others (particularly children) then such actions are reprehensible and legal action should be taken.

Just because someone is American Indian or black does not automatically give them the victim role or absolve them for being hateful and racist. The victim mentality, so prevalent in minority groups, may produce short-term gains, but long-term it is extremely destructive, making those groups more and more helpless.

This is the politics of victimhood and privilege, that passes off differences between races, sexes and cultures as deliberate political/cultural contrivances and biases that are propagated by white males to keep themselves in the place of privilege at the top of society. (Try telling that to the 16 million whites in America who are in poverty!) These imaginary privileges are believed to be what keeps “The Patriarchy” in power, not hard work, family unity, discipline, sacrifice, education and intelligence. Forget those! Far easier to reduce everything to a single causative factor — white male privilege — because then no responsibility needs to be taken by the “victim” for their own standing in life. The victim can remain a victim who helplessly receives privilege and handouts just for being who they are.

The white privilege belief rests on the assumption that all people, cultures and sexes are entirely equivalent and interchangeable, so that any differences that one may observe are contrived in some way. From this perspective, groups fail, not because they may have a higher percentage of broken homes or culturally eschew education and self-discipline, or even because they make different choices, but because of who they are. This is identity politics which interprets the failure of groups (provided they are not male and white) as what is done to them.

This reinterprets differences solely as indicators of oppression. And as real differences do not just evaporate on idealism’s demand, the remedy is affirmative action that forces equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity. This allows the reality of differences to be glossed over in favour of an imaginary and idealistic parallel universe where choices make no difference, hard work makes no difference, educational achievement makes no difference, family integrity makes no difference, intelligence makes no difference, and sacrifice makes no difference. People are absolved of all responsibility and turned into helpless charges of the state.

Force people to be equal despite real differences and societal standards start to rapidly drop. Everything becomes a race to the bottom, with anyone standing out regarded as suspect, unless they are female and/or from a minority group (although that will change in time as it stands the way of ideological sameness).

And the fuel for this process of reframing differences as “systemic racism” and “white privilege” is hatred, which is used to stir up societal chaos in order to bribe governments into transferring wealth from those labelled as privileged to those labelled as unprivileged.

In such a scenario, why bother to work hard? Why bother to get married to have children? Why bother to sacrifice for the future? Why bother to stay in school and get the grades? Why bother to excel at anything? Nothing ends up making any difference when differences are stamped out. This creates a passive and helpless population that requires a totalitarian Big Brother/Sister government to look after and guide. This is the political end-goal of the progressive Left. (D'Souza calls this plantation politics.)

But as many of the differences between people have roots in reality and therefore annoyingly persist (real things tend to do that), the hatred used to force this levelling process is forever being ratcheted up in hope that it will eventually break reality, allowing for the political ascendancy of the progressive Left’s Marxist ideology of enforced sameness and the complete destruction of personal freedom. And that enforcement is certainly savage: 100 million people were murdered by the great socialist experiments in the 20th Century.

Differences are abhorrent to many because they seem so unfair and divisive. But differences, unfortunately, are just a fact of life. Just witness the line-up at an Olympic 100m finals and practically all the athletes are black, as are the elite long-distance runners. Witness the distribution of Nobel prizes and how Jews have won 22.5% of them despite having a global presence of just 0.2%. And witness how science and maths education is dominated at the top by East Asian students. Life is unfair: the only real question is how much of those differences are to do with Nature (genetics) and how much to do with Nurture (upbringing).

And this raises red flags to those who ideologically believe that there are no genetic differences, by definition, between different groups of the human race apart from superficial differences in appearance. We are all so terrified of being labelled as “racist” that we entirely dismiss any genetic science that supports fundamental genetic differences (outside of propensity towards disease), shunning any scientist who dares to even consider genetic difference and labelling them as racist and thereby dismissing any objectivism. The reality is just too painful to accept.

Given the reality of genetic differences, our sole responsibility to ourselves and to our children is to nurture to the genetic limit; to give ourselves the very best chance to shine, with whatever gifts and potentials the we have been divinely given. That is it. But to rail about differences or to use them for political ends is an abomination to the Creator Consciousness and an avoidance of responsibility.

Here are a couple of videos on the illusion of systemic racism and how it is a myth used to avoid responsibility to shine. These speakers happen to be black, but what they are saying could pertain to any minority believing that they are being oppressed by white privilege:

So where does this leave us with the Covington Catholic High School fiasco?

That day on Friday 18th January, both the American Indians and the black haters who confronted the school children in the way they did behaved unethically. What they did was abhorrent. Banging a drum in a child’s face for political expediency is unethical behaviour, period. And lying about it afterwards is also unethical behaviour. (As for the black “Israelites”, these men are not just unethical but just plain sociopathic as you can see in the video. They are a real danger to society.)

The mainstream journalists, activists, writers and entertainers who then ran with the false narrative because it fit with their hatred for Trump and white privilege, clearly also lack ethics. It would seem that most of the Left-wing ‘influencers’ in society today do not have a moral compass. For them, the end justifies the means, and they seem quite happy to throw a group of kids to the wolves (or into a woodchipper) for political expediency.

I have often wondered about this lack of ethics. It seems all too easy for humans to be extremely cruel, showing compassion only when it suits them. Many regard religions as the cause of most of the world’s problems, but we must not forget that atheists also have an enormous potential for cruelty. I am reminded of Randall Jarrell’s quote: “Most of us know, now, that Rousseau was wrong: that man, when you knock his chains off, sets up the death camps.”

The unimaginably huge death toll left by socialism in the 20th Century bears witness to this observation. Free humans from religion, and they are still just as murderous and cruel.

It is no coincidence that the Left embraces atheism, as bringing people to state dependency requires them to relinquish divine dependency. As long as you answer to a higher power, you will not give full loyalty to a Big Brother/Sister state. That is why the Left abhors religion, which Marx famously described as “the opium of the people”.

“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.” Karl Marx

However, it will use it for its own purposes: it used the American Indian drumming and chanting as a means to bolster the good Indian bad white boys scenario. But let’s not beat around the bush: there was nothing ‘spiritual’ about intimating a child by going up to him and drumming in his face while staring at him. That behaviour is using your fine spiritual heritage for inauthentic purposes and to score political points.

The children at the Lincoln Memorial had little going for them: they were Trump supporters; they were mostly white; they were Christians; and they were male. In today’s progressive society, that is 4 strikes against you. No wonder they were targeted by both the Native Americans and the black sociopaths. If you are looking to score political points, finding a 4-strike target is a windfall! (And a soft target comprising children to boot so even these cowards could score political brownie points while minimising physical risk to themselves and maximising the chance of an immature response.)

And it would have worked if the full video of that day’s events had not been available to corroborate the abuse of the children by the adults. After all, in today’s politically correct world, nobody would trust the word of a group of whites in MAGA hates against the word of “peace-loving and spiritual” American Indians, war heroes and apoplectic blacks.

Fortunately, the whole setup has now backfired, and the abusive adults present that day can be seen for what they are, regardless of their skin colour and victimhood-rating. All I can say is thank God for modern technology. We live in a world where it is increasingly advisable, as with the police, to wear personal camcorders in public places to protect against political opportunists and predatory shysters.
